Access
1. Parents need a “ Pairing Code ” from their student.
2. Students can access the pairing code while in their Canvas Account by selecting:
• “Account” on the left side of the screen.
• “Settings” on the left side of the screen.
• “Pair with Observer” on the right side of the screen.
3. Parents can click here or go to https://beaverdam.instructure.com/login/canvas to log-in to Canvas.
4. Select “Parent of a Canvas User” in the top right.
5. Add your name, email and pairing code.
Assignments
There are 3 main ways to submit assignments via Canvas.
1. Text Entry
2. Video Recording
3. Google Drive
There are 3 additional types of tasks to complete in Canvas
1. Discussions
2. Forms - these are completed via a link to the Google Form
3. Quizzes - written directions
Completed Work & Grades
Official grades can be accessed in Skyward.
- Most teachers have the “grades” feature on in their Canvas courses. This does not show all or overall grades, but rather the status of assignments within Canvas.
- Viewing Missing Work in Canvas
- Depending on the type of assignment not all Assignments automatically show as “submitted” in Canvas.
- In the Canvas mobile (App) version, a “T” shows for assignments completed via text entry, rather than showing “submitted”.
